An excellent fight-back with the ball, and in the field, restricted Brunswick to 9/115. The less said the better about an abysmal batting performance which saw CYs skittled for 26. A very long season beckons unless more value is placed on our wickets.

U15 A

A talented and well-drilled Werribee outfit put CYs to the sword, rolling us for a measly 42. Werribee reached 0/26 in reply. The day reinforced the how wide the gulf is between us and the top teams in this grade.

Under 15 C

Well yesterday certainly had everything didn’t it?  Early innings collapse, mid order resilience and a flourish of big hitting at the end leaving us with a respectable score of 99.  Which was very good considering the outfield resembled a jungle.  Then the bowlers gave it everything for 11 overs, putting us in the strong position of having them 6/39.  Is there any sweeter sight in cricket than the ball smashing through the wickets? Congratulations to Callum Doyle with his first ball for CY’s took a wicket and finished his first over with 3 for 0, all bowled!

Under 13A

What a first day. The team went out full of confidence however after losing 4 for 5 things were looking shaky. Liam Dawson played a loan hand showing grit and determination and was a rock whilst Werribee Centrals helped the cause with many a no ball. All out for 50  – leaving Werribee Centrals with a run rate of 1 per over. From the first ball you could tell that the boys were up for it and seriously gave themselves a chance, I do not think that many others did…….. 20 overs later, Werribee Centrals all out for 30 – a wonderful display of line and length bowling, some great catches , great fielding and a captain that showed maturity beyond his years. The most pleasing and amazing feat was bowling one no-ball in 20 overs. A truly great days cricket where the boys showed what they are capable of, day 2 next Saturday will be an opportunity to occupy the crease and see some runs scored.

Under 13C

Unfortunately the opposition were unable to field a team; we were able to play a scratch match.

Under 11 A Gold

On Friday 14-10-2011 the 11A Gold team played their first game against Sunshine Heights Klizewski. We kicked off the season at the Hatt Reserve on what turned out to be a magnificent night for cricket!  Matthew ALLSOP was Captain for the round; we won the toss and elected to bat.  Our side had four boys playing their 1st game.

Lachlan HODGE batted well with our top batting score of 8 not out.  William BOKMA bowled and took 2 much needed wickets.  Lachlan DOWNEY displayed some fabulous fielding by making a run out with a direct hit and Lachlan MEE took a fantastic catch.

Our side finished at 8/46, we were defeated by Sunshine Heights Klizewski who finished at 5/106.

All round it was a great team performance.  The boys encouraged each other and displayed good sportsmanship.  Well Done!   

Under 11A Blue

Our 11A Blue team played their first game of the season away against Caroline Springs.  With the team including some players from last year’s 11A team along with some new kids, we started the season hopeful of a strong showing.  Happily that’s what we got.  Bowling first we held some great catches to dismiss the strongest of the Caroline Springs batsman and that helped restrict them to 4/54 from 20 overs.  In reply, some strong batting saw us comfortably chase down the target, finishing at 6/80.

It was great to see the sportsmanship that our team displayed.  There were a few strange umpiring decisions, including 2 of our players being given out off obvious no-balls.   In all cases the umpire’s decision was accepted immediately and without any outward sign of disappointment.  Well done boys, a great way to start the season

Well done to all the boys, Ash and Kristy for a fabulous season.  Highlights included Zane Wallace 25 retired, Liam Dawson 23, and Angus Collins for 2 wickets and just missing out on a hat-trick and an all round great team effort in the grand final and throughout the season.
