KB commits to 19s in 2019

We are delighted to announce the reappointment of our Head U19s Coach, Con Terzoglou. Having led our U19s program over the last 5 years, Con’s leadership has been instrumental in guiding our U19s to the top of section 2, while developing our next generation of CYs Senior players.

Con’s tireless approach to establishing an under 19’s culture that enables both the development of individuals and footballers, was key to his reappointment. In what can be a challenging task of balancing the variety of young football ambitions, Con’s ability to ensure all players are catered for has seen our Unders program continue to grow, resulting in the CYs being the only club in Melbourne’s Western Suburbs to field 2 x U19s teams. Con’s ability to generate opportunities is testament to the program he leads – with 4 Western Jets listed players and 3 players debuting at senior level in 2018 alone.

The man they call ‘KB’ has a continuous passion for developing U19 players and seeing them transition successfully into senior football. Evidence of the program’s success was on display in the senior side that took the field in this year’s Preliminary Final with 11 of the 22 having come through the 19s program led by Con. Con reveals “We think it’s great when an U19 player debuts at senior level. The boys get so excited for each other because it also creates an opportunity for someone in the Colts side to play at a higher level. ”

2018 was definitely a year to remember, with our U19s taking out the minor premiership and winning its way through to the Section 2 Grand Final. This was an extraordinary effort considering the age of the group, and clearly a result of the playing group thriving in an innovative and dynamic football environment.

Con will again be surrounded by some CYs faithfuls on the sidelines with Michael Manning and David Wouda continuing their roles as assistant coaches for Season 2019 – “It’s important for the culture of the club to have ex-players involved, in particular in the U19s program. It’s a great opportunity for these kids to see that the club promotes a sense of belonging.”

The Club could not think of a better individual to lead our young men, teaching them the CYs way and helping to continue to build the club’s future.
