We are pleased to announce that Mathew Montebello has been re-appointed as CYs coach for 2020, as we appear for the first time in our history in Premier B.
Mat has overseen the club win the 2014 Senior Premiership in Division 1 – through to the historic recent win over Ajax to secure his second Senior flag in 2019 – and promotion from Premier C to Premier B in the VAFA. This is a first for the CY’s in our long & rich history.
Montebello’s journey with the CY’s started 9 years ago (2011) – taking on the U18’s which was the start of our ‘Unders’ program. He coached the U19’s the following year and was announced as Coaching Director/Senior Coach of the club in 2013.
The recent success (7 teams, 5 Grand Finals & 4 Flags in 2019) of Williamstown CYMS Football Club is a direct result of Mat’s hard work, his dedication to the club/community and development of players within the club to be the best they can be. The top-down program implemented by Mat has the club aligned and playing ‘the Williamstown way’ across all 7 teams – we look forward to the challenge of Premier B in 2020 and we congratulate Mat on his re-appointment as Coaching Director/Senior Coach for the 2020 season.
