In what will be a historic move for the club, CYs will field 4 senior mens sides in 2019. This comes as a result of having a high retention of players that has become ingrained into the fabric of all teams within the club. For the first time in its history, the club will be fielding 7 teams competing across various sections of the VAFA competition.
With 5 of our 7 team’s coaching appointments already announced, we are very pleased to announce the appointment of Matthew Wynd as our Fourths coach for the 2019 season. Wyndy will commence his 7th year at the club having previously lead the Reserves to a premiership in 2016 followed by the 2017 Thirds flag. Matt has coached the Thirds for the last 2 years, having taken the team to Section 2 last year, which is a massive jump from where they were positioned in the clubbies comp just 4 years prior.
In completing our coaching appointments for 2019 we are also delighted to announce the appointment of Marty Bokma as our U19’s Colts coach. Marty is a long time Football Williamstown person who in recent years was Vice President and Head of Football Operations at Williamstown Juniors Football Club. He was an integral part of setting up the WJFC and CYMS player and coaching development program with Director of Coaching Mat Montebello and Coaching coordinator Ben Kelly. Marty’s passion for developing young players, along with his huge level of experience in this area makes him a major asset in supporting U19s Head Coach Con Terzoglou.
